government\u2019s decision to approve the land registration process in the occupied West Bank as \u201cstate property\u201d has drawn widespread condemnation from regional countries and international organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday the measure would enable \u201ctransparent and thorough clarification of rights to resolve legal disputes\u201d and was needed after unlawful land registration in areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority (PA).<\/p>\n<section class=\"more-on\">\n<h2 class=\"more-on__heading\">Recommended Stories<!-- --> of land title\u201d processes, frozen since 1967 when Israel occupied the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The Palestinian presidency condemned the Israeli move, calling it a \u201cgrave escalation and a flagrant violation of international law\u201d, which amounts to \u201cde facto annexation\u201d.\u00a0It called on the international community, especially the United States and the United Nations, to intervene immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas also denounced the move as an attempt \u201cto steal and Judaise lands in the occupied West Bank by registering them as so-called \u2018state lands&#8217;\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an attempt to forcibly impose settlement and Judaisation on the ground, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions,\u201d it said, calling the Israeli action \u201ca null and void decision issued by an illegitimate occupying power\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Regional countries, including Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, deemed the move illegal under international law and a threat to the two-state solution of the Israel-Palestine conflict.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what they said:<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"egypt\">Egypt<\/h3>\n<p>In a statement, the Egyptian government called the Israeli decision a \u201cdangerous escalation aimed at consolidating Israeli control over the occupied Palestinian territories\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"qatar\">Qatar<\/h3>\n<p>Qatar\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the approval for the land registration process was \u201can extension of its illegal plans to deprive the Palestinian people of their rights\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the need for international solidarity to pressure the occupation to halt the implementation of the decision to avoid its serious repercussions,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"jordan\">Jordan<\/h3>\n<p>According to a statement released by the royal court on Monday, King Abdullah said Israel\u2019s actions were an attempt to \u201cconsolidate settlements and impose sovereignty over Palestinian land\u201d, and could \u201cexacerbate the conflict\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Jordan\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs on Sunday called on the international community to \u201cassume its legal and moral responsibilities, and to compel Israel, the occupying power, to stop its dangerous escalation\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"saudi-arabia\">Saudi Arabia<\/h3>\n<p>The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its \u201ccondemnation\u201d of the plans aimed at imposing a \u201cnew legal and administrative reality\u201d in the occupied West Bank, saying such measures would \u201cundermine ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories,\u201d the ministry said unequivocally, rejecting the illegal measures that are a \u201cserious violation of international law\u201d and undermine the two-state solution.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"kuwait\">Kuwait<\/h3>\n<p>The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli decision and described the move as a \u201cnull and void decision\u201d, urging the international community to \u201cdeter those Israeli violations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is absolutely unacceptable to impose non-Palestinian sovereignty over the occupied West Bank,\u201d the ministry said\u00a0in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny decision to annex land in the occupied West Bank would be considered null and void and illegitimate, and would undermine international efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in line with Security Council resolutions and the two-state solution,\u201d it stressed.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"pakistan\">Pakistan<\/h3>\n<p>Islamabad called on \u201cthe international community to take concrete measures to end Israeli impunity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPakistan strongly condemns the latest attempt by the Israeli occupying power to convert areas of the occupied West Bank into so-called state property, and to expand illegal settlement activities,\u201d the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s \u201ccontinued disregard for international law and its provocative actions undermine the prospects for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region\u201d, it added.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"organization-of-islamic-cooperation\">Organisation of Islamic Cooperation<\/h3>\n<p>The OIC said Israel\u2019s decision was akin to \u201ccolonial measures\u201d in the occupied West Bank and called for urgent international action.<\/p>\n<p>The Jeddah-based organisation said Israel\u2019s measures \u201ctarget the existence of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights\u201d, including the right to self-determination and to establish an independent sovereign state within the borders that existed before the 1967 war, with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.<\/p>\n<h3>European Union<\/h3>\n<p>The EU on Monday called on Israel to reverse its approval, warning it was a \u201cnew escalation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis constitutes a new escalation after recent measures already aimed at extending Israeli control\u201d in the occupied West Bank, EU foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe reiterate that annexation is illegal under international law.
