(Photo by Sajjad HUSSAIN \/ AFP)\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4327757\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">India\u2019s Prime Minister Narendra Modi shakes hands with Brazil\u2019s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva before their meeting at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi [Sajjad Hussain\/AFP]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"trade-agreements\">Trade agreements<\/h2>\n<p>India\u2019s Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced that, along with the critical minerals and rare earths deal, nine other agreements were signed, including a memorandum of understanding that ranged from digital cooperation to health.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Modi called Brazil India\u2019s \u201clargest trading partner in Latin America\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to taking our bilateral trade beyond $20bn in the coming five years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur trade is not just a figure, but a reflection of trust,\u201d Modi said, adding that \u201cWhen India and Brazil work together, the voice of [the] Global South becomes stronger and more confident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also said he was confident that Lula\u2019s talks with Modi \u201cwill impart a new momentum to our ties\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC) in 2024, Indian exports to Brazil reached $7.23bn, with refined petroleum being the main export.
