Ukrainian forces shot down 111 Russian drones, the Air Force added.<\/li>\n<li>In Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine\u2019s Kherson region, Ukrainian attacks killed one person and injured two others, Russia\u2019s state TASS news agency reported, citing Russian-appointed official Volodymyr Saldo.<\/li>\n<li>Ukrainian forces also killed one person in Russian-occupied Luhansk, TASS reported.<\/li>\n<li>In Russia, TASS said Ukrainian forces killed two people in the Belgorod and Bryansk regions.<\/li>\n<li>In Russia\u2019s Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that a \u201cmassive\u201d missile attack by Ukrainian forces caused \u201csignificant damage to energy infrastructure\u201d, with residents \u201cexperiencing power, water, and heat outages\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Russian forces shot down 152 Ukrainian drones in overnight attacks that lasted into Tuesday morning, the Russian Ministry of Defence said, according to TASS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"politics-and-diplomacy\">Politics and diplomacy<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the 107 members of the 193-member UN General Assembly who voted on Tuesday in favour of passing a non-binding resolution in support of a \u201clasting peace\u201d in Ukraine.<\/li>\n<li>The United States was among 51 countries abstaining, while Russia was among 12 countries voting against the resolution.<\/li>\n<li>In a televised address, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine and its allies were \u201cpushing themselves to the edge\u201d in their resolve to defeat Moscow and that they would \u201cregret\u201d their actions.<\/li>\n<li>Putin also accused Ukraine of threatening Russian energy \u2060 pipelines with \u2060the help of Western intelligence agencies in a push to sabotage peace negotiations.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine\u2019s ambassador to \u2060 Washington, Olha Stefanishyna, said the US State Department had advised Ukraine to \u201crefrain from\u2026 attacking American interests\u201d after expressing displeasure that Ukrainian attacks on the Russian port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea had affected US oil interests.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThis reach-out was not related to encouraging Ukraine from refraining to attack Russian military and energy infrastructure. It was related to the very fact that American economic interest was affected there,\u201d Stefanishyna told reporters in Washington, DC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>While on a visit to Kyiv, European Council President Antonio Costa said that Ukraine can expect \u201csignificant progress\u201d in its accession path to the European Union in the foreseeable future.<\/li>\n<li>European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who was also in Kyiv on Tuesday, promised to deliver \u201cone way or another\u201d a 90-billion-euro ($106bn) loan, which has been blocked\u00a0by EU members Hungary and Slovakia.<\/li>\n<li>German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said China has a \u201csignificant opportunity\u201d to exert influence over Russia regarding its war on Ukraine, as he left for a trip to Beijing.<\/li>\n<li>UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the Security Council that Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine remained \u201ca stain on our collective conscience\u201d and reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire, in remarks delivered by Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN undersecretary-general for peace-building.<\/li>\n<li>The US Embassy in Kyiv said in a statement that US \u201cPresident [Donald] Trump remains committed to achieving a negotiated settlement and lasting peace that ensures Ukraine\u2019s independent and prosperous future, with the United States as a strong and committed partner\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine has dismissed a Russian claim that Kyiv is trying to \u2060obtain nuclear weapons with the help of the UK and \u2060 France. \u201cRussian officials, known for their impressive record of lies, are once again trying to fabricate the \u200cold \u2018dirty bomb\u2019 nonsense,\u201d Heorhii Tykhyi, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the Reuters news agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"sanctions\">Sanctions<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>The United Kingdom announced nearly 300 new sanctions on Russian energy revenue, including oil exports and military equipment suppliers, UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Yvette Cooper said.<\/li>\n<li>Australia imposed sanctions on imports of Russian-origin energy goods, including petroleum gases, crude oil and refined petroleum products, aiming \u201cto diminish Russia\u2019s ability to finance its illegal and immoral war against Ukraine\u201d, the Australian Sanctions Office said in a statement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are the key developments from day 1,462 of Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine.
