But he also said his preference was a diplomatic resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Iran has repeatedly emphasised that it will not agree to Washington\u2019s demand for zero nuclear enrichment, and considers its missile programme a \u201cred line\u201d that cannot be negotiated.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, the US military has significantly increased its presence in the Middle East and Mediterranean region, including sending some of its largest aircraft carriers \u2013 the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of countries that are advising their citizens to leave Iran:<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"australia\">Australia<\/h2>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">The government on Wednesday urged its citizens to leave Iran \u201cas soon as possible\u201d amid threats of a US attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegional tensions remain high and there continues to be a risk of military conflict,\u201d it added. \u201cDo not travel to Iran due to the risk of arbitrary detention and the volatile regional security situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Australian Foreign Ministry directed dependents of its officials to leave Lebanon and Israel, while offering voluntary departures from Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"germany\">Germany<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe security situation in Iran and the entire region is extremely volatile and very tense. Further escalation and military clashes cannot be ruled out,\u201d the German embassy said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther restrictions on air traffic, including flight cancellations and airspace closures, may occur at any time,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"india\">India<\/h2>\n<p>New Delhi on Monday said all citizens \u2013 including students, pilgrims and business owners \u2013 should \u201cexercise due caution\u201d and leave Iran by any means available.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"poland\">Poland<\/h2>\n<p>Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on Poles in Iran to \u201cplease leave Iran immediately and under no circumstances travel to this country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not want to alarm anyone, but we all know what I am referring to. The possibility of a conflict is very real,\u201d he said on Thursday, noting that at some point, evacuation might not be possible.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"serbia\">Serbia<\/h2>\n<p>The Serbian Foreign Ministry on Saturday called on citizens not to travel to Iran \u201cin the coming period\u201d, while urging those inside Iran to leave immediately.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"south-korea\">South Korea<\/h2>\n<p>In a safety notice posted by the South Korean embassy in Iran, officials warned of \u201crapidly escalating regional tensions, citing the possibility of a US attack on Iran and Tehran\u2019s warning of retaliation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It called on all citizens to leave \u201cas soon as possible\u201d, while calling on all those planning trips to the country to cancel or postpone them.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"sweden\">Sweden<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe situation in Iran and in the region is highly uncertain,\u201d Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said in a social media post on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI therefore wish to emphasise the importance of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs\u2019 advisory against all travel to Iran, and the urgent appeal to Swedish citizens who are in the country to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"united-states\">United States<\/h2>\n<p>According to a senior official at the US State Department, Washington has instructed all non-essential staff to withdraw from its embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continuously assess the security environment, and based on our latest review, we determined it prudent to reduce our footprint to essential personnel,\u201d the official told Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe embassy remains operational with core staff in place.
