aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\">\n<p>India\u2019s T20 \u200cWorld Cup-winning cricket team has been \u2060awarded a \u2060bonus of 1.31 billion rupees ($14.24m) by the country\u2019s cricket board, six \u2060times the prize money they claimed for lifting the title in Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of their victory at the home tournament, the \u200cBoard of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the world\u2019s richest cricket board, announced the additional prize for the Indian team on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The sum is roughly $3m higher than the tournament\u2019s overall prize pot of $11.25m.<\/p>\n<p>India secured their historic third \u2060men\u2019s T20 World Cup crown with a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand in a one-sided final on Sunday, earning $2.34m for the tournament win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2060Board congratulates the players, support \u2060staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,\u201d the BCCI said in \u2060a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The prize money will be shared among the entire team, including coaches and support staff.<\/p>\n<p>The BCCI had last year rewarded the Champions Trophy-winning \u2060Indian team with a $6.72m \u2060cash bonus, triple that of the $2.24m they received for the title win.<\/p>\n<p>With India now three-time T20 World Cup champions, captain \u200cSuryakumar Yadav said the side\u2019s next big goal was to claim a gold medal at the \u200cLos \u200cAngeles Olympics in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The victory cemented India\u2019s place \u201camong the most successful teams in the history of the format\u201d, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Cricket commands an unrivalled following in the world\u2019s most populous country, with top players enjoying star status.<\/p>\n<p>Midnight celebrations broke out across the country on Sunday as delirious fans in blue Indian shirts took to the streets, beating
