In the 2024 elections, a third of all ballots were cast by mail.<\/p>\n In Friday\u2019s lawsuit, the states argue that Trump\u2019s order violates the US Constitution, which says that state officials decide the \u201ctimes, places and manner\u201d of elections.<\/p>\n The states further maintain that only Congress can pass new restrictions related to how elections are conducted.
