The responsibility and possibility of governing were not given to us. I have congratulated the winner,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, in a post on X, Magyar thanked Hungary for its support and confirmed that Orban had congratulated him on his success.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how the world has reacted to the election results:<\/p>\n<h3>Estonia<\/h3>\n<p>Prime Minister Kristen Michal said Hungarians have made a \u201chistoric choice for a free and strong Hungary in a united Europe, rejecting forces that ignore their interests\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to Peter Magyar on winning the election! I look forward to working together on what unites Estonia, Hungary and Europe,\u201d Michal said.<\/p>\n<h3>European Union<\/h3>\n<p>European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed Magyar\u2019s victory, saying, \u201cHungary has chosen Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA country reclaims its European path. The Union grows stronger. Hungary has chosen Europe. Europe has always chosen Hungary. Together we are stronger,\u201d von der Leyen said on X.<\/p>\n<h3>France<\/h3>\n<p>President Emmanuel Macron said he spoke to Magyar to congratulate him on his victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrance welcomes the victory of democratic participation, the Hungarian people\u2019s commitment to the values of the European Union, and Hungary\u2019s commitment to Europe,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"germany\">Germany<\/h3>\n<p>Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated Magyar on his victory and said, \u201cThe Hungarian people have decided.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to working with you. Let\u2019s join forces for a strong, secure and, above all, united Europe,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n<h3>Lithuania<\/h3>\n<p>President Gitanas Nauseda called the result a \u201cBig win for Hungary! Big win for Europe!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to @magyarpeterMP. There are a lot of things we could and should do for the sake of democracy, justice and peace,\u201d Nauseda wrote on X.<\/p>\n<h3>Norway<\/h3>\n<p>Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said Magyar\u2019s success was of \u201cgreat importance\u201d to Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to close and constructive cooperation in pursuing peace and stability, democracy and the rule of law on our continent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3>Poland<\/h3>\n<p>Prime Minister Donald Tusk also welcomed Magyar\u2019s victory with a dig at Orban\u2019s relations with Russia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack together! Glorious victory, dear friends!\u201d he posted on X, adding in Hungarian: \u201cRussians, go home!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Ukraine<\/h3>\n<p>In a statement, President Volodomyr Zelenskyy said: \u201cUkraine has always sought good-neighbourly relations with everyone in Europe and we are ready to advance our cooperation with Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEurope and every European nation must get stronger, and millions of Europeans seek cooperation and stability.
