We saw that very painfully in Afghanistan for 20 years. We saw it in Iraq,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Merz said Iranian officials were \u201cobviously negotiating very skilfully\u201d and appeared \u201cclearly stronger than one thought\u201d, adding that \u201can entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership\u201d, particularly by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.<\/p>\n Merz urged a rapid end to the war, warning that the fallout was already hitting Germany\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is, at the moment, a pretty tangled situation,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it is costing us a great deal of money.
