After decades of armed struggle, fighters from the Kurdistan Workers\u2019 Party, or PKK, are withdrawing from Turkiye and moving to northern Iraq.<\/p>\n

The conflict between the PKK and Turkish forces has killed more than 40,000 people in four decades.<\/p>\n

The withdrawal is the latest step in an agreement with the Turkish state, which the group says will see it shift from armed rebellion to democratic politics.<\/p>\n

So, will Ankara stick to its end of the bargain and allow the PKK to engage in civil society?<\/p>\n

And is Kurdish autonomy now just a pipe dream?<\/p>\n
