We\u2019ve had to find ways to adapt to this misery \u2013 even though it\u2019s almost impossible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">Every chapter in Said\u2019s book is named after a person, a place, or a memory he refuses to let disappear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">\u201cI don\u2019t need your sympathy,\u201d he said. \u201cI need a conscience that hasn\u2019t rotted \u2026 a human that hasn\u2019t turned to stone, I need a reader who won\u2019t just close the book and sigh \u2013 then go to sip their coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4122710\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4122710\" style=\"width:770px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-4122710\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Screenshot-2025-11-22-at-10.27.45-AM-copy-1763796937.jpg?w=770&amp;resize=770%2C513&amp;quality=80\" alt=\"Gaza writer\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4122710\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">[Screengrab\/Al Jazeera]<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"s3\">He has spent many nights writing by candlelight because the Israeli military has destroyed nearly all of the infrastructure in Gaza, so there is no electricity or internet for the displaced population.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">Said said he did not write for recognition, but to express his emotions and bear witness to the atrocities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">\u201cI was devastated. I couldn\u2019t contain my anger. Writing became the only way to let it out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">He began by writing about his experiences, but soon realised that there were many who had gone through even more horrific tragedies that he said the human mind cannot imagine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">\u201cPeople who were killed and buried without anyone knowing. Their final moments. Their fear. I called this chapter The Untold Stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">For Said, every page is a form of quiet resistance against forgetting. He said death felt \u201cinevitable\u201d in many instances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\">\u201cI wrote because I wanted to leave something behind \u2013 to be a witness, not just another martyr. Even with the images of starvation and death, I still believe writing matters,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is all I could write. The rest is being written now in blood.
