Qatar\u2019s PM, Turkish FM speaking at Doha Forum urge urgent progress to next phase as Gaza truce violations mount.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Doha, Qatar \u2013<\/strong> Qatar\u2019s prime minister has warned that the Gaza ceasefire is at a \u201ccritical moment\u201d and could unravel without rapid movement towards a permanent peace deal, as Turkiye\u2019s foreign minister also cautioned that the process could lose momentum.<\/p>\n Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani told the Doha Forum on Saturday that what exists on the ground amounts to merely a \u201cpause\u201d in hostilities rather than a genuine ceasefire.<\/p>\n list of 3 items<\/span>end of list<\/span><\/section>\n He said a true ceasefire \u201ccannot be completed unless there is a full withdrawal\u201d of Israeli forces, alongside restored stability and freedom of movement for Palestinians, none of which have materialised.<\/p>\n Turkiye\u2019s top diplomat Hakan Fidan echoed that message at the forum, saying that without timely United States intervention, the peace process risks stalling entirely.<\/p>\n Fidan said that senior US officials \u201cneed to intervene in a timely manner so that we can go into the second phase, otherwise we can lose momentum\u201d, adding that Hamas has largely fulfilled its obligations on returning captives.<\/p>\n Only one captive\u2019s body is still in Gaza, as all living captives and the remains of all the rest have been handed to Israeli authorities.<\/p>\n Their warnings come as Israel\u2019s genocidal war on Gaza continues unabated, with some 600 violations of the ceasefire in the last seven weeks, and with three Palestinians killed on Saturday in the latest Israeli attack in the northern town of Beit Lahiya.<\/p>\n Israel has killed at least 360 Palestinians since the October 10 ceasefire began, according to Gaza authorities. Among the dead are at least 70 children, UNICEF has reported, adding that the ceasefire \u201cmust translate into genuine safety for children, not more loss\u201d.<\/p>\n Fidan said several Muslim-majority countries that could send troops to Gaza for a proposed international stabilisation force, now endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, want Turkiye to contribute troops, but Israel\u2019s government is opposed.<\/p>\n \u201cMr Netanyahu doesn\u2019t hide it,\u201d Fidan said at the event referring to the Israeli prime minister, adding that he \u201copenly doesn\u2019t want to see Turkish troops there.\u201d<\/p>\n Norway\u2019s foreign minister went further, insisting the force and an international peace council \u201cmust be formed this month\u201d.<\/p>\n Espen Barth Eide said that the Trump administration\u2019s plan contains sequencing ambiguities that allow \u201ceach of the sides to stall on doing their required parts\u201d until the other fulfils its obligations first.<\/p>\n Egypt\u2019s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty proposed deploying the international force along Gaza\u2019s so-called yellow line immediately to verify ceasefire compliance, noting that \u201cIsrael is every day violating the ceasefire and claiming the other side is the one who is violating it\u201d.<\/p>\n He emphasised the urgency as winter approaches, with Palestinians lacking shelter following what he called Israel\u2019s \u201csystematic destruction\u201d of the territory.<\/p>\n Badr met with Qatar\u2019s prime minister later on Saturday, during which both countries called for the expedited formation of the international peacekeeping force for Gaza.<\/p>\n The call came as eight Muslim-majority nations, including Egypt and Qatar \u2013 both key ceasefire mediators \u2013 issued a joint statement condemning Israel\u2019s plan to open the Rafah border crossing exclusively for Palestinian departures.<\/p>\n The countries expressed alarm that the one-way arrangement breaches the US-brokered peace plan and could facilitate the permanent displacement of Gaza\u2019s population, only allowing Palestinians to leave their territory, but not to return, and block the entry of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n Saudi Arabia\u2019s minister plenipotentiary Manal Radwan warned against treating Gaza as an isolated crisis, stressing it remains inseparable from the broader Palestinian struggle for self-determination.<\/p>\n Without addressing \u201cthe core of the conflict,\u201d she said, the international community risks repeating familiar cycles of violence, followed by political fatigue.<\/p>\n The ceasefire\u2019s second phase \u2013 calling for an international stabilisation force (ISF), a technocratic Palestinian government, Hamas disarmament and full Israeli withdrawal \u2013 has yet to begin.
