{"id":4669,"date":"2025-12-08T00:33:01","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T00:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inernews.online\/?p=4669"},"modified":"2025-12-08T00:33:01","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T00:33:01","slug":"qatars-pm-calls-for-inclusive-engagement-to-achieve-elusive-regional-peace-israel-palestine-conflict-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inernews.online\/?p=4669","title":{"rendered":"Qatar\u2019s PM calls for inclusive engagement to achieve elusive regional peace | Israel-Palestine conflict News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\">\n<p><strong>Doha, Qatar<\/strong> \u2013 The prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has called for inclusive engagement, including with non-state actors such as the Palestinian group Hamas, as the only viable route to regional peace.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to United States journalist Tucker Carlson on Sunday at the Doha Forum, Sheikh Mohammed said you cannot resolve or reach a solution \u201cif you have no one speaking to non-state actors\u201d.<\/p>\n<section class=\"more-on\">\n<h2 class=\"more-on__heading\">Recommended Stories<!-- --> <\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">list of 3 items<\/span><span class=\"screen-reader-text\">end of list<\/span><\/section>\n<p>The start of Qatar\u2019s relationship with Hamas goes back more than 10 years, he said, adding that opening the group\u2019s office in the country came at the request of the US, aiming to enhance communications with the armed group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they [Hamas] moved their office back in 2012 here [Qatar], it was used only for communication and to facilitate ceasefires and aid to Gaza,\u201d Sheikh Mohammed, who is also the foreign minister, said.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar has also hosted the Taliban\u2019s political office since 2013, during the group\u2019s war with the US and the former Afghan government. The office was also established at Washington\u2019s request to create a venue for potential peace negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Mohammed refuted allegations that any money going to Gaza went to Hamas, insisting it goes to the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPoliticians are trying to use this for short-term political gains \u2026 to fuel their narratives,\u201d the prime minister stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll our aid, financing, and all our support \u2026 went to the people in Gaza, and was a very transparent process that the United States is very aware of \u2026 [and] Israel was the one facilitating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis communication has led to ceasefires, has led to the release of hostages, has led to alleviating the suffering of the people over there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"israeli-attack-on-qatar-unethical\">Israeli attack on Qatar \u2018unethical\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Discussing Israel\u2019s shocking attack on Qatar in September, Sheikh Mohammed described it as an \u201cunethical move\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe concept of mediation is like having a safe place for conflicted parties to achieve a deal, to end wars and to end conflicts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mediator being bombed by one of the parties \u2013 this has been unprecedented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister revealed that US President Donald Trump was caught off guard by Israel\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump was very clear from the beginning\u2026 When he was informed about the attack, he assigned one of his advisers to reach out to us immediately. He expressed his frustration, his disappointment, because he knows everything about the process and how helpful we were throughout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made it very clear for everyone that this is like the red line, that he doesn\u2019t want anyone to cross.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"reconstructing-gaza\">Reconstructing Gaza<\/h2>\n<p>On the reconstruction of a devastated Gaza, following Israel\u2019s ongoing two-year genocidal war, Sheikh Mohammed said Qatar would \u201ccontinue supporting the Palestinian people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will do whatever to alleviate their suffering,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said Qatar \u201cwill not write the cheque for what others destroyed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it comes to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, we hear that Russia should fund all the reconstruction, and their assets should be seized to fund all the reconstruction of Ukraine,\u201d he pointed out. \u201c[But] when you are talking about Israel \u2026 and you say that Israel has the responsibility to rebuild what is destroyed, they will tell you no. It\u2019s really a very ironic double standard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur position is that our payments will go only to help the Palestinian people, if we see that the help coming to them is insufficient,\u201d Sheikh Mohammed added.<\/p>\n<p>According to UN estimates, 92 percent of all residential buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed since Israel\u2019s war on the besieged enclave began on October 7, 2023, producing between 55-60 million tonnes of rubble.
