De Wever said that the pledged deployment was made possible since a \u201cUS backstop\u201d was \u201cnow on paper\u201d, following Tuesday\u2019s meeting in Paris.<\/li>\n<li>US envoy Steve Witkoff said that US President Donald Trump \u201cstrongly stands behind security protocols\u201d to \u201cdeter\u2026 any further attacks in Ukraine\u201d, adding to what the Reuters news agency said was the first time the US had publicly backed Ukraine\u2019s allies\u2019 promise to provide the guarantees.<\/li>\n<li>However, a promise that Washington would commit to \u201csupport\u201d the European-led multinational force \u201cin case of a new attack\u201d by Russia, which was present in an earlier draft statement, was not in the communique released on Tuesday evening.<\/li>\n<li>Witkoff, who was at the talks in Paris, also said that \u201ca lot of progress\u201d had been made, and added that \u201cland options\u201d will be the most \u201ccritical issue\u201d, and \u201chopefully, we will be able to come up with certain compromises with regard to that\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on X that his country \u201cwill not send troops\u201d to Ukraine, but \u201cwill continue to provide other forms of assistance, particularly in [Ukraine\u2019s] reconstruction and economic revitalisation\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said his country would not send troops and would no longer provide funding for ammunition for Ukraine, although it will continue in the role of coordinator for the \u201cammunition initiative\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"fighting\">Fighting<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"spaced-bullet-spacing\">\n<li>Russian forces fired guided bombs at the village of Yuliivka in Ukraine\u2019s Zaporizhia region, killing a 42-year-old man and injuring a woman, Governor Ivan Fedorov wrote on Telegram.<\/li>\n<li>A 34-year-old man was also killed in an earlier attack on Zaporizhia, Fedorov wrote in a separate post on Tuesday, adding that the region had come under 856 attacks over the past day.<\/li>\n<li>A Russian drone attack on a police vehicle in the Polohivskyi district of Zaporizhia injured three police officers, the regional military administration said on Telegram.<\/li>\n<li>Russian forces killed a 61-year-old woman in an attack on the Myropyl community of Ukraine\u2019s Sumy district, the regional prosecutor\u2019s office wrote on Telegram.<\/li>\n<li>Russian forces killed one person in attacks on Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk region on Monday, Governor Vadym Filashkin wrote in a daily update on Facebook on Tuesday.<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine\u2019s Air Force said on Telegram that it shot down 53 of 61 Russian drones fired towards Ukraine on Monday night into Tuesday morning.<\/li>\n<li>Ukrainian forces killed two people in attacks on Russia\u2019s front-line Belgorod region, the regional operational headquarters reported on Telegram.<\/li>\n<li>A Ukrainian drone attack caused several tanks to catch fire at an oil depot in Belgorod\u2019s Stary Oskol district, the regional task force said, according to Russia\u2019s state TASS news agency.<\/li>\n<li>Russian forces shot down 129 Ukrainian drones overnight into Tuesday, Russia\u2019s Ministry of Defence said, according to TASS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are the key developments from day 1,413 of Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine.
