A number of people have been taken to hospital,\u201d the police said.<\/p>\n<p>The East of England Ambulance Service said it mobilised a large-scale response to Huntingdon Railway Station, which included numerous ambulances and critical care teams, including three air ambulances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can confirm we have transported multiple patients to hospital,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>One witness described seeing a man with a large knife, and told The Times newspaper there was \u201cblood everywhere\u201d as people hid in the washrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Some passengers were getting \u201cstamped [on] by others\u201d as they tried to run, and the witness told The Times that they \u201cheard some people shouting we love [you]\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Another witness told Sky News that one of the suspects was tasered by police.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The appalling incident on a train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning.<\/p>\n<p>My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Keir Starmer (@Keir_Starmer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Keir_Starmer\/status\/1984743058856869942?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 1, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the \u201cappalling\u201d incident was \u201cdeeply concerning\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response,\u201d Starmer said in a statement on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone in the area should follow the advice of the police,\u201d Starmer added.<\/p>\n<p>London North Eastern Railway, or LNER, which operates the East Coast Mainline services in the UK, confirmed the incident had happened on one of its trains and said all its railway lines had been closed while emergency services dealt with the incident at Huntingdon station.<\/p>\n<p>LNER, which runs trains along the east of England and Scotland, urged passengers not to travel, warning of \u201cmajor disruption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It serves major stops, including in London, Peterborough, Cambridge, York and Edinburgh, and trains are often very busy and packed with travellers.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Paul Bristow, said in a post on X, \u201cHearing reports of horrendous scenes on a train in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire\u201d, and added that his \u201cthoughts are with everyone affected\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Knife crime in England and Wales has been steadily rising since 2011, according to official government data.<\/p>\n<p>While the UK has some of the strictest gun controls in the world, rampant knife crime has been branded a \u201cnational crisis\u201d by Starmer.<\/p>\n<p>His Labour government has tried to rein in their use.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 60,000 blades have been either \u201cseized or surrendered\u201d in England and Wales as part of government efforts to halve knife crime within a decade, the Home Office said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Carrying a knife in public can already get you up to four years in prison, and the government said knife murders had dropped by 18 percent in the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Two people were killed \u2013 one as a result of misdirected police gunfire \u2013 and others were wounded in a stabbing spree at a synagogue in Manchester at the start of October,\u00a0 an attack that shook the local Jewish community and the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police say a number of people were taken to hospital after a series of stabbings on a train near Cambridgeshire.
